We strive to tell our couple’s story and reflect their energy in the photographs we capture. Like Elton John and Bernie Taupin, we work in two rooms: Bob is the principal photographer and handles all the logistics of our shoots and Dawn completes our vision by editing photos and making each image sing, then designs a fine art book to encapsulate the story of the day.

All our clients are a blessing to us and we know it’s an honor to be chosen to photograph their memorable event.  We are very grateful to everyone who has given us the privilege to work with them.  Thank you... a million times for trusting in us!

*   Eva Longoria + Tony Parker’s wedding 6 days in Paris, France.
*   Salma Hayek + François-Henri Pinault’s wedding 2 days in Venice, Italy.
*   Tracey Edmonds + Eddie Murphy’s wedding 4 days in Bora Bora.
*   La La Vazquez + Carmelo Anthony’s wedding in New York.
*   Oprah’s biggest celebration “The Legends" 3 day event at her home in Montecito,

CHECK OUT OUR WILDLIFE GALLERY

When I’m not out in the field, I can be found in the “Lighting Lab” testing new techniques or practicing with new gear; you never want to practice on assignment. I strive to know my equipment inside and out. As Bob Kotalik, the chief photographer who hired me at The Chicago Sun-Times, said, "Come back with a good picture, or don’t come back at all. We can’t publish an excuse.” I’ve embraced this every time I pick up the camera to take a picture.

Dawn and I lead photographic workshops worldwide, teaching camera techniques, lighting, workflow, post-production, choosing the right lens and equipment for wildlife. I love seeing those lightbulb moments when people get that once in a lifetime shot.  When we lead photographic safaris in Africa, it’s not about us getting the best image but empowering others and sharing in their excitement as they capture the best photograph of the day.

My cameras have always been like a passport into history. I am continually honored when doors open and people invite me in to document their life. While at the paper, I covered countless amazing events, such as presidential elections, Michael Jordan's entire career with the Chicago Bulls, every religious faith, and many tent revivals. I've traveled around the world to places such as El Salvador, Taiwan, Lithuania, Romania, Moldova, Kenya, and Uganda for human interest stories. I've even had the pleasure of riding to South Dakota on a Harley with the Hells Henchmen for the 50th Anniversary of Sturgis.

And Dawn and I are also proud to be members of the SANDISK EXTREME TEAMSanDisk recognizes this group as distinguished leaders and innovators within the professional community. These select pros are recognized for their decades of global contributions and commitment to excellence.

I am a proud member of the WESTCOTT TOP PRO ELITE, a group of talented photographers from around the world comprised for photographic education and inspiration. Each is a master of his or her own creative specialty.

My passion for photography began back in high school when I became the editor of the newspaper. I then went on to Columbia College and was named College Photographer of the Year. With this came a full time job at a daily newspaper in Chicago and then on to a full time position for 15 years at the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper.  I have since moved on from the newspaper industry. Today, I have the privilege of photographing the most important events in people's lives and I couldn't be more honored.

If you would have told me back in April of 2005 that I would quit my job as an Accountant and become the Creative Director of a business with my husband, and that we would have the most amazing clients, I would have thought you were crazy! But then I realized that I've always felt like God had big plans for me and Bob.

Meeting new people is one of my favorite things to do. And having the honor to design a fine art book from one of the most important days of their lives makes me so happy! Seeing their reaction inevitably brings a tear to my eye.

Bob and I have been to Paris to photograph the wedding of Eva Longoria and Tony Parker. I have designed some of the most incredible books for Forest Whitaker, Maya Angelou, Tyler Perry, Oprah, and of course Eva. I pinch myself everyday. I love working with all our clients and getting to know them. I love hearing their stories of how they met, and what their vision is for their fine art book.

It's all about building relationships! I love what I do and I am so grateful to God for blessing me with the most incredible family. Bob is the wind beneath my wings and our kiddos, Bobby and Alli, are the firecrackers of our lives. What more can a girl want?

Our Family & Business Video

no laughing at Dawn's dancing!

Our Adoption Video

"Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms." 1 Peter 4:10

Our family gives thanks to God for all the incredible opportunities He has blessed us with. We know that He has been instrumental in our lives and He has paved the way for us to be who we are today.

All our work is on location so we have always operated our business from our home, it is where we draw our strength and our salvation. Our kids used to come on shoots with us and travel the world with us as we documented life. They are now adults and are on their very own journey in life. We love donating our time to charities and give back to the world. We have been on many mission trips, each one has changed our lives forever. We encourage you to challenge yourself and give back through your talents. It will change you forever!

We were married 10 years when our children came home to us. Bobby was born in 1997 and Alli was born in 1998, both born in Chisinau, Moldova. They are biological siblings and they are our children. The loves of our life. We adopted them in March of 2002. It was a looooooooong journey for us to become parents, but it was worth every tear and every moment that felt like an eternity.

We have been married since October of 92. Yes, 1992. I think we would both agree that some days it seems like just yesterday we first met and other days it feels like forever ago.

He gets the most hugs and kisses

Bob created this video March of 2002 when we came home with our kiddos from Chisinau, Moldova.  It's the story of the very beginnings of our family!  Warning.... have tissues nearby.  Don't say we didn't warn you!  And NO laughing at Dawn's dancing or choice of clothing!  That just wouldn't be nice....haha!

Every year in March we celebrated our kid's "Gotcha Home Day". It's hard to believe it was 2002 that we touched down at O'Hare airport and went through customs with our kiddos. Bobby was 4.5 and Alli was 3.5 at the time. They are now grown adults on their own journeys.... it's SO CRAZY how fast time is flying by!

I always wanted to adopt and when Bob and I were going through the process, it was really difficult. At the time, it seemed like anything and everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. But then I began praying in DETAIL to God, and when I mean detail, I mean, names, dates, addresses of where the adoption committee was meeting next. I could not have gotten more specific with God begging Him to be there at those meetings so we could finally bring our children home. And it wasn't long, weeks I think, that after I started praying specifically did He answer our prayers. We waited an entire year to hear the words "It's time!"

Every year on February 13th Bob would take the same photo of our kiddos.  The first photo was taken the very first time Bob met our kids at Casa de Copii in Chisinau, Moldova.  I had already met them on my first trip.  On our way to Moldova we bought Alli a papusheka (doll) and it made an appearance in every photo.  Notice how small the doll gets over the years!  So fun!

I don't even know how to describe how much we love our kids.  They were born in our hearts and have changed us forever.  People always comment on how lucky they are because we adopted them, but honestly we are the lucky ones.  We are so blessed to have them in our lives.  I may not haven given birth to our kids, but we are their parents and we love them with every ounce of our heart and soul.  They have forever changed us and we will always be thankful that God heard our prayers.

It's been wonderful to see many people we've met in the photography industry go through the adoption process and be blessed the same way we have been.  Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you ever have any questions.

To learn more about how to get involved with the Medical Missions Foundation, check out their website: www.mmfworld.org

We designed this book for the Medical Mission Foundation to help them fundraise and bring awareness to their organization. Because pictures tell such a powerful story, this book helped MMF receive their largest funding contributions ever that year. Giving back never felt so good.

This particular project has a very special meaning to us because we adopted our two beautiful children from Chisinau, Moldova, which is Romania's sister country. We can't help but think of what life would be like for our son & daughter, if they were never adopted. It brings tears to our eyes just thinking about it. At their ages now, they'd be out on the streets. Who would care for them? It makes us so sad. Our children are home and know they have a family who loves them, respects them and cares for them deeply.... as every child deserves to have.

Every year we try and donate our talent as much as possible. God always seems to find a way for us to do this. It began in September of 2006 when Bob traveled with a team of doctors, nurses, and volunteers from the Medical Mission Foundation (MMF) on a trip to Botosani, Romania, where they performed dozens of surgeries and hundreds of medial exams on people in need. It was an experience never to be forgotten.

Giving back is life changing.... we encourage you to give it a try!
